
Position Summary
The Education Coordinator is a strategic team member of Mom’s House staff who plays a vital role in maintaining regulatory compliance, ensuring quality early childhood education, and supporting the mission of breaking cycles of poverty through our two-generation model.
The Education Coordinator works closely with the Program Director and center staff to ensure seamless operations, maintain compliance with multiple regulatory bodies, and deliver high-quality early childhood education that supports both children’s development and their parents’ educational goals.
In addition to fostering a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment for the children and families we serve, the Education Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining ratios, compliance documentation and regulations for the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services (ODJFS), Step Up To Quality (SUTQ), Lucas County Health Department, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

Qualifications
- Required: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent Career Pathways Level 3 certification
- Strongly Preferred: Experience with ODJFS state licensing, Step Up to Quality (SUTQ), Lucas County Health Department, and CACFP
Primary Responsibilities
General Center Operations & Management
- Oversee daily safety and sanitary practices in accordance with state licensing guidelines.
- Assist with staff scheduling, including coverage for breaks and call-offs, as needed.
- Support client services, including orientation procedures, scheduling, and policy enforcement.
- Collaborate with leadership on fundraising events, facility tours, donation intake, and community relationship development.
- Ensure consistency of Mom’s House mission and philosophy across all interactions with staff, clients, and community.
State Licensing & Step Up To Quality (SUTQ)
- Assist with comprehensive documentation required by ODJFS and Mom’s House, including—but not limited to—building maintenance, new enrollment paperwork for families, and onboarding/termination for new employees.
- Help coordinate and prepare for inspections with ODJFS, SUTQ, Fire Department, Health Department, and/or agencies contracted for building maintenance.
- Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios in accordance with SUTQ standards.
- Oversee professional development plans, training requirements, and continued education for all center staff.
- Manage developmental screenings and coordinate parent-teacher conferences.
Job & Family Services (JFS) Reimbursement / Publicly Funded Child Care (PFCC)
- Implement and maintain tracking systems for the timely submission of all Lucas County Job and Family Services (LCJFS) paperwork.
- Serve as a positive liaison between LCJFS and Mom’s House clients.
- Train clients on the Time, Attendance and Payment (TAP) system and maintain equipment.
- Manage attendance reporting and submission via TAP system and OhioCCTap portal.
- Stay current on JFS policy updates and implement changes, as needed.
Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive system for tracking and timely submission of all documentation, including monthly claims, enrollment packets, menus, and grocery lists.
- Prepare meals, as needed, to ensure program compliance.
- Coordinate yearly renewal applications and three-year onsite inspections.
- Stay current on new policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular communication with CACFP state consultant and implement policy updates.
Early Childhood Education & Family Engagement
- Stay current on early childhood best practices and policies.
- Model and promote positive guidance techniques that foster children’s independence and development.
- Communicate with children at their developmental level.
- Promote healthy eating practices.
- Support staff in the development and implementation of appropriate curriculum.
- Build positive, productive relationships with families and encourage family participation in center programs and activities.
- Assist in conducting parent-teacher conferences, relating assessment information to parents, and providing support for navigating developmental milestones.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for single parents in the program.
Professional Development & Teamwork
- Maintain commitment to professionalism and ongoing professional development to improve professional and personal skills.
- Promote and support the center’s philosophy, educational objectives, and code of ethical conduct.
- Support colleagues’ professional growth and development by sharing resources, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
